Thanking him for his "...attention & civility to our son Andrew" and informing him that Andrew intends to "...go South to Sir William Forbes House at Edn'r, the beginning of Nov'r next; and the Reason of this airly Intimation to you was in Case you had any young Friend in view to succeed Andrew in your office, & it was but Civil & proper for me to let you know in time; But we might beg the favour of you, not to mention this to Andrew or any body else, least if Andrew got a Hint of it; He might grow Careless and not attentive, which we want to avoid, & with him to be kept Clos at this Duty, till He goes away."
