Summary
Concerning the evacuation of the Admiralty Fortress and turning over the command; saying "We have been making preparation for evacuating the Admiralty Fortress for some days, and shall tomorrow begin moving the Baggage and continue so to do until all be cleared away. I think I may say I shall be ready to deliver up the Keys in Ten days, but if you wish to come sooner and hoist your Flag, I shall be happy to conform to your pleasure. Such things as we do not intend to take to Gatcombe will be left in the House, for your option, and if you should not want them I shall sell them by Auction. If it will be an accommodation to you, I could spare you a Pipe of Madeira, that has been two years in the Cellar. You will probably come in the first instance without Lady Bickerton, as it is likely you may wish some parts of the House, that is become very dim, should be newly painted, as nothing of that kind has been done since I have been in it except the Drawings Rooms, and Stair Case, and Landing place."
