Summary
Recommending Rev. Dupré, Rector of St. Helier's, for the Chaplainship of the Island of Jersey; saying he is "...a Gentleman of Learning & good Character Every way qualified for that Employment, & strongly recommended as such by the Lieu't Gov'r; may I hope you will use your interest with his Majesty that he may be appointed in the room of the late Rev'd Mr. Duparq. And as it is of considerable importance, there very particularly, to the morals & behaviour of the Garrison of Elizabeth Castle, & the characters of the Clergy there, being best known to those who either Reside , or have occasions to be inform'd of their conduct. I shou'd flatter myself that my recommendation on this head may have some weight, tho' it has not been thought proper to put that Office like the rest of the Clergy under the immediate Patronage of the Governor."
