Summary
Saying that, to his consternation, the cable-letter he sent to her at the end of the year was returned as insufficiently addressed; apologizing for the delay in thanking her for a present and adding "I call upon all the blessings to descend upon both your heads, with utmost sincerity and earnestness of which I am capable;" sending his love in a postscript to her daughter Jamie, "who is referred to here as 'the wonder-child'."
