Notes
Mercy Maris and Philip Doddridge were married on December 22, 1730. Mrs. Doddridge spent part of 1742 recuperating from a serious illness in Bath.

Summary
Making arrangements for her return from Bath, possibly via London; writing at length about how much he misses her and looks forward to seeing her: "my Heart is so full that I can talk & write & think of nothing else;" calling her "dear lovely Girl" and signing himself "Most impatiently yours;" sending her various instructions in a long postscript, including asking her to send one of his pamphlets to Mr. Allen and to buy him "a Sett of Shoe & Knee Buckles such as you like & remember ye Children who are very good & join w[i]th me in Duty to you;" dating a second postscript "Dec. 22. Wedding Day" and writing "I intend to celebrate ye Honours of ye Day in sending you another Letter before I go to Bed. God grant we may have many of these Days to come each spent together & each happier than ye first or ye laste."
