Summary
Concerning the purchase of George Romney's "The Spinning Girl"; saying "You must have been very much misinformed in supposing there was any contract of the sort you name respecting the Spinning Girl[.] I gave the price Mr. Romney demanded - The Price for the other picture was as I understood what I paid[.] I shall be very glad to look at the remaining works of your father[.] Must decline giving any answer to the proposition respecting Mrs. Smiths picture till the opinion of those who have the first claim to it is known." adding, in a postscript, "Mr. Curwen would be glad to know when he can see the Pictures."
