Summary
Referencing his review of Catharine Sedgwick's novel, Redwood, which Bryant notes he completed at the end of November, and which will be published in the North American Review. Mentioning a case in New Haven, and discussing his future. Noting that he is "fixed in [his] determination to leave this beggarly profession," and that he intends to "see what [he] can do in New York." Enclosing a copy of his poem Monument Mountain (MA 686.8) for Mrs. Sedgwick. Praising Catharine Sedgwick's Redwood, noting that "it cannot fail to take with the English public," and mentioning that Bryant is "gratified at seeing so many handsome things said of it on both sides of the water."
