Summary
Concerning an exhibition on John Hunter, "the great Surgeon", being held in London and another that may be held later in the year as it is the centennial of his death; adding that he has learned that a relative of Dr. Hunter "...had amassed some literary materials with the view of writing a life. From the enclosed letter, you will see that it is supposed that you may know whether there is such material, and if so where & with whom it is. If there is, now seems a good time to try to have it utilised. I am Honorary Librarian to the Faculty of Physicians & Surgeons, and either I, or the Secretary there, or some of the Fellows might be able to work up the materials if given or lent to the Library. We have just had a portrait of Dr. William Hunter placed in our custody, by the family of the late Dr. Hunter of Rotheray. Apologizing for intruding in your leisure at this time."
