Summary
Concerning the completion of his Christmas Story; saying "The arrangement made for my present Christmas Story provides for its being completed in two month's time - but leaves me uncertain whether it will be published in 1876 or 1877, until the end of August next. At that date, the question of publication is to be positively decided - and then I can write to you definitely. If any new proposal reaches me in the meantime, I will let you know of it."
