Douglas gives the place of writing as "Camp de Mardek." The location of this camp has not been identified, though Douglas served most of his career in France and Belgium.
Address panel with seals and floss: "Monsigneur du duke / d [name scratched out] general / des arme de la Majestie / catholique au pais bas." The Duc de Melfe is identified as the addressee in a later note.
