Summary
Introducing him to Thomas Carlyle; saying "I have much pleasure in making you acquainted with my friend Thomas Carlyle a true Scotsman, an accomplished scholar and man of fine natural genius. He has heard of your fame among the mountains - and who has not - and longs much to shake that gifted right hand that has honored the mother land so greatly. I have been on Yarrow w'h The Shepherd of Ettrick at Abbotsford and Chiefswood and have much to tell you which I must soon take an opportunity of doing. Our regards to Miss Wilkie.
