Summary
Informing him that they have had "a severe and bloody Action, by which their Ranks are considerably thinned"; asking Nelson to recommend to the Virginia legislature that the state "furnish us with a fresh supply of Troops"; telling him that Capt. [William] Pierce, who is delivering the letter, will give him details of the Battle of Eutaw Springs; praising Col. [Richard] Campbell, the brigade commander "who was killed in the heat, and fury of the conflict"; congratulating him on the arrival of the French fleet in Chesapeake Bay.
