Summary
Referring to confusion over a letter sent to or received from a Mr. Jones; saying "If it is necessary to say anything more to him, I wish you to do it in any manner that will give you the least trouble. For my part, I shall give myself no more concern upon the subject, as I have no idea, after what you were commissioned to offer last winter, & which he haughtily rejected, of suffering myself to be dictated to in a point of which I am the only proper Judge - He closed the business himself in a manner as obnoxious as possible. Many thanks for your information about Lord D's house. The price asked is beyond what I think is worth my while to give; & as there is little probability of their accepting the sum which I commissioned you to bid for me I think there may be little use in making an offer at present & as I should not choose to exceed it."
