Summary
Telling them that he is "exceeding sorry that the board should harbour the least thought that [he] entertain[s] an opinion of them so derogatory to their intentions as that of taking measures to thwart [his] designs"; writing that "on the contrary [he is] persuaded [they] have given all the aid and support to the Southern department the poverty of the Treasury and other pressing calls would admit"; commenting on his army's need for more ammunition; mentioning Baron von Steuben; noting that he hopes "the fall of Lord Cornwallis and the situation of the Enemy ... will render a numerous Cavalry less necessary than they have been."
