Summary
Saying "A week or two ago I sat down to write you & the N.O. cabinet generally a line of thanks for the kind article you printed : but I was disturbed by a literary agent, & got no further. I am sure I do not deserve the proud position of a place in your list of moderns, & can never live up to it. However you have put me there, so it must be. I am glad you changed the title of the paper. We down here now feel at liberty to look into it occasionally, without a sense of trespass. I have lately been in town two or three times - & hope to see you there later on. I wonder if you are there now. Perhaps you have accompanied the Observer."
