Summary
Suggesting that he join their party to Jericho; saying "I find from our guardian angel the Scheik that there is no other person who can afford you protection - & therefore, says he, you must wait till he returns with us on Thursday. But, say we - why should you not all three join our party & either go with us this morn'g - or come up with us at our stopping place beyond Jericho where our tent is to be pitched? We shall start about 9, or before 10, & as we are a large body we move slow, but it be better to go together if we can. We shall be happy also to aid & assist you in messing & in any other way - but I should recommend you to bring your tent & canteen. I shall be able to assist you with cash if you should require it before the Consul's return. Pray let me know your intentions as to the Jordan & Dead Sea - We shall be glad of your company."
