Complaining of having heard nothing from him and of a lack of provisions; telling him that he has "written to Davie's State to provide [Greene's army] with three thousand stalled beeves this winter and Spring"; writing that he hopes Davie "will attend the Assembly and get some very severe laws passed against commissioners who shall fail in their duty and distress the Army in its supplies"; reiterating their need for spirits and salt; congratulating him on their victory against Lord Cornwallis in Virginia, and observing that "the Noble Earl made but a poor defence" against [George] Washington.
