Deploring the disagreements and disputes between officers; noting that "such disputes will weaken our own exertions and encourage the enemy; for they will be informed of all those matters"; telling him that General [Francis] Marion "cannot wish to injure [him] after knowing how much [Horry] has done and suffered for the cause"; exhorting him to "let neither pride[,] passion or resentment hurry [him] into any thing that may widen the breach between [them]"; commenting on the capture of Lord Cornwallis.
