Summary
Informing him that he sent two of his aids to give Washington "a very particular account of the state of the southern department"; wishing that "glory & success may attend" Washington's actions against Cornwallis in Virginia; suggesting that if Cornwallis falls, "Charles Town itself may be easily reduced" if more forces are sent to the South; telling him about the Battle of Eutaw Springs, and enclosing a copy of his letter to Congress about the battle; telling him that he is"trying to collect a body of militia to oppose Lord Cornwallis should he attempt to escape through North Carolina."
