Saying that "your recent visit to the Garrick Club introduced me to the notice of a gentleman who has cleverly contrived to make Oysters wholesome out of Season"; writing that "[h]appily, my catalogue of Virtues includes that of forbearance"; saying he once forgave a "purblind painter" who portrayed him with "sky blue eyes and a snub nose"; forgiving "the petty Grocery act. to which you so delicately allude"; concluding with a quotation from Othello, "He that is robb'd not wanting what is stolen."
