Summary
Writing at the request of James Tewksbury on behalf of a Mr. Dexter to seek employment in the Navy for Mr. Dexter "a poor unfortunate man, out of employ;" expressing his hope that the Embargo not be repealed and saying "there never was a wiser measure than the Embargo, and so effectively has it been inforced that I have not heard of one attempt to evade it, and so useful, that it is generally acknowledged a great property has been preserved to the nation, & that it has been the means of destroying the Enemy beyond any other step that has been taken. I do hope it will not be repealed & if it should pass both Houses, I hope the President will not assent to it."
