Notes
The identity of the recipient is from a penciled notation at the bottom of the letter "to Bellamy / Bath." Benjamin Plim Bellamy (1782-1847) was the Manager of the Theatre at Bath from 1827 and later the lessee of the Bath Assembly Rooms.
The letter is dated "Monday May 28th" and written from Torrington Square; it is possible the year of writing may have been 1832 or 1838 when May 28th was on a Monday; the letter is signed Ellen Tree which would make it before January 29, 1842 when she married Charles John Kean and took his name; she appeared in three plays written by James Sheridan Knowles in 1833, 1839 and 1840 before she married.

Summary
Informing him that "If Mr. Knowles positively opens with you on the eighteenth - I can positively promise to accompany him - if his engagement is deferred until later in the month I fear I must give up the idea of visiting for a time."
