Summary
Replying to a directive to bring his Lewes Volunteers to Brighton to be inspected by Sir James Pulteney; apologizing that "from the illness of many of the Corps, and absence on business of others, that our appearance numbers at the present time would be too small to trouble the General to inspect us;" saying he will be in Brighton the following day or Friday and will pay his respects at Head Quarters.
