Summary
Concerning a group of upperclassmen who have "requested permission to form themselves into a company for military exercises. The Government granted their request; hoping & presuming that under regulations, which might be adopted & observed, such an institution would serve the health & recreation of the students, & enable them to make some improvement in the art military without involving any sacrifice of their peculiar & primary objects of pursuit; or placing in any hazard the peace & good order of the Seminary;" requesting that the Governor "lend for the purpose stated Sixty arms with the suitable accoutrements to be returned, when required."
