Summary
A journal written in the form of (unposted) letters to Charles Kingsley, containing religious and emotional reflections on their separation and their future life together. Begun in Taplow, Buckinghamshire, on 14 April 1841 and kept during her German tour through Baden, Marienbad, Carlsbad, etc. The first 13 leaves of the journal are written on loose letter sheets, the first of which is inscribed "To be given to C.K. in case of my death, unready by any other human being. F.E.G. May 1841." The front flyleaf of the journal is inscribed "This book to be given to CK at my Death --& let no eye but his dare rest upon one syllable it contains. F.E.G. Feby. 18 1842."
