Formerly accessioned as MA 2333 and formerly part of a collection of thirteen letters from various persons to Joan Severn.
Housed with a letter to Joan Severn (MA 9590.2), also formerly part of the collection formerly accessioned as MA 2333, discussing a visit to her home by John Ruskin.
Envelope with stamp and postmarks to "Mrs. A. Severn / 9 Warwick Square / S W. 1." The envelope is machine stamped "Buy National War Bonds Now", the first machine canceled slogan postmark on letter and postcards in England. The postmark does not include the day of writing so it is not clear which note to the Severns was in the envelope.
Written on two mourning cards, each engraved "12, Portland Place.W."
