Acknowledging receipt of his letters which he put before the King; relating Intelligence received "...of the Capture of the Dutch Settlement at Trincomale in the Island of Ceylon on the 19 of January last, as also of two Dutch East India Ships laden with Spices from Batavia bound to Holland lying in that Harbour. I lose no time in giving you this agreeable Piece of Intelligence : the particulars of which as well as a Confirmation of the Surrender by Capitulation of Negapatnam the Principal Dutch Settlement on the Coast of Coromandel will be printed in the Gazette of Tomorrow night."
