Notes
The year of writing is only provided in two letters dated 1902 and 1903 however Rev. Heard was a Master at Westminster School, Dean's Yard through 1889. He became Headmaster at Fettes College, Edinburgh in January 1890. The first twenty-four letters are written on mourning stationery from Dean's Yard, Westminster. Rev. Heard's wife, Elizabeth Tamar Burt Heard, died in 1888. The remaining letters are written primarily from Fettes College, Edinburgh.
Acquired as part of a large collection of letters addressed to William Angus Knight, Chair of Moral Philosophy at the University of St. Andrews and Wordsworth scholar. Items in the collection have been individually accessioned and cataloged.
