Summary
Asking, at the request of the Dean, why he is not using the Athanasian Creed in his Services and in his Articles; saying that in the Dean's edition of the Bishop's Prayer Book "the Apostles & the Nicene he finds are the only creeds alluded to : consequently your Articles vary from ours in an important point - There no doubt is some tertium quid, to account for this apparent discrepancy, of which we should be glad at any time to hear - And now you must allow me on this holy day to hope that yours has been a refreshing as well as holy & solemn day, & one of strong consolation in looking back, as well as looking forward upon the extended & varied fields of labor & openings of service in the Lord's vineyard to which He has of late called you;" sending farewell wishes from his wife.
