Summary
Saying he has presented the bills to Mr. Elliot who "...after some hesitation accepted the two bills upon him - Mr. Gordon refused acceptance & promised to write you his reason, which seemed to me a very good one. Mr. Dickson required a day or two to examine the State of his acct & this day he refused to accept & said he had written to you his reason;" adding that he hopes he "...will advertise the four Volumes a few times as soon as you can."
