Discussing an agreement proposed by Francis to the Governor-General [Warren Hastings]; saying that it was rejected and that the Governor-General "did not think you could suppose him so unwise as to agree to a Proposition which at the same Time that it carried the Appearance of an Accommodation left you in Possession of all you wanted, without making him an adequate Concession in Return.... he sh'd continue to stand alone upon the Principles and Arguments which he had already urged.."
