Summary
Concerning a fire in his house and the Samuel Johnson papers; saying "Sir John Hawkins presents his compliments to Mr. Cadell with many thanks for his enquiries : he and his family are as well as he can expect : he has saved a box containing Dr. Johnson's papers and manuscripts all that is already written of the life is preserved and there is no want of materials for fulfilling Mr. Cadell's engagement to the public. Sir John recommends the advertising this information to the public but that Mr. Cadell should do it in a better form than this note contains."
