Concerning travel arrangements for his journey to Paris; expressing pleasure that he has arrived in Europe; discussing the logistics of meeting in Paris and suggesting a travel route and accommodations for the journey through Antwerp and Brussels; detailing expected costs en route; providing a detailed itinerary of the exact route "with the distances marked in posts;" instructing him "At Antwerp or before you come to it, you must put a French cocade into your hat, otherwise you will meet with continual interruptions and be liable to be carried two or three times a day before the Municipality to have your passport examined;" informing him that "Apartments are taken for you, Genl Marshall, myself and our Suites in Paris, all under the same roof;" asking that he write en route and let him know of his progress.
