Summary
Acknowledging receipt of Greene's letters; mentioning Col. [Lewis] Morris's impatience to leave town; giving details of the Maryland recruits, and noting that they will stay with the Marquis [de Lafayette] until [George] Washington gives further orders; telling him that he is going to Virginia, and he expects that "the reduction of the enemies post at York Town, and the surrender of their Army will engage but little of our time on the March to South Carolina"; offering his congratulations on the arrival of the French fleet.
