Summary
Thanking him for sending him a book; saying "Though I do not know whom I have the honour of addressing, I must not fail to return you my best thanks for the Volume of selections from our most ancient Poets which you have been so good as to present to me with the excellent Introduction you have prefixed to it. The contents of the book appear to me to have been most happily chosen : and I trust it will prove as popular as it deserves...I do not venture to appropriate most of the words which you have been pleased to inscribe on the fly-leaf;" the remainder of the letter is missing.
