Complaining that posts in Wigtown have been filled by Grenville without consultation with him or his father; saying he had met with Mr. Grenville who "...made me little or no answer, but desired to have in writing what I said; I inclose to your Grace a Copy of what I wrote to him : I have not yet had any answer and just now he has disposed of two small Posts in the Port of Wigtown, within six miles of my Father's house, where the recommendation of our Family has for twenty years and more been regarded. Can he imagine this a method to make me wish to support Ministry. I have been silent till I should talk to, or hear from your Grace, to whom I am really attached."
