              Commenting on a letter recently published in the Virginia Gazettes; noting that "Mr. [Samuel] Osgood wrote [him] from Philadelphia, that the General Assembly of that State, had appointed a Committee on the Letter, having been much alarmed on its first appearance"; giving his opinion of Annapolis and reporting, "this is not a place capable of administering much to my pleasure, or of promoting my Happiness"; mentioning that "our Commissioners are ordered to attend to the Subject of Complaint ... respecting the prize Money of our Seamen"; adding that "the portraits of the King and Queen of France [Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette] are arrived at Philadelphia."
