Summary
Concerning Knight's work on [Thomas] Davidson; offering to "...add an article to your list on p. 237. The International Journal of Ethics, July 1897 contains an article by Davidson, entitled "When the 'Higher Criticism' has done its work [and] To avail myself of the kind offer contained in the preface p. X to forward the supplementary chapters to persons interested in Davidson. Of such I would claim to be. After much laborious & varied reading & experience, I find myself inclining to an attitude to philosophy art & religion prefigured by that of Davidson. May I venture to recall the circumstance that I once had the pleasure of dining in your company some twelve years ago at the house of your brother Dr. Knight of Keswick;" adding, in a postscript, "If you will kindly note the amount of the expense my request entails, I will forward it."
