Summary
Referring to the conversion of English debt (Consols); saying "I am much obliged to you for your flattering note. Certainly it is a marvel how Consols have kept up, & I quite agree with you that the great extension of Trustees Investment securities heightens that marvel. The Conversion carried with it a general lowering of interest beyond what I anticipated. This gave a fillip & [illegible] for more discretion to Trustees."
