It is quite refreshing to see with what calm & philosophical composure a great scholar & connoisseur can write! How sweetly does he look down on the criticisms of the uninitiated! I fear that you and I shall never attain to such perfection - it may be questioned I think whether our [illegible] has cost the good man more than all the nights sleep which have past since it appeared."
