Thanking him for the "prompt return of the Wordsworth letters. I have no objection to the publication as you recommend it but you are aware that I cannot give you an affirmation title to publish;" advising him not to publish anything about a certain Lord; adding "Nor if I denounced any one for schism should I wish this to be published as a fragment though I would have no objection if it were coupled with what I have written since; commenting on Talfourd's system of copyright and adding, "With regard to Wordsworth's circumstances I conclude you would print nothing in the way of particulars except with the approval of his [illegible] representation. As Minister I have always held that Civil List Pensions cannot be given to Literary men on the score of need, & I have never asked proof of need."
