The year of writing is not provided however December 22nd and December 23rd fall on a Thursday and Friday respectively in 1785 and this letter appears to continue a conversation similar to one in a letter from Gough to an unidentified recipient dated March 10, 1783 (MA 23114).

Summary
Suggesting a time to call; saying "If it will not be inconvenient to you to be at home on Thursday or Friday the 22'd or 23'd inst between one & three I will make a point of coming to see y'r discoveries of the last Summer;" adding, in a postscript, "Y'r answer at Mr. Nichols by Saturday night will be in time."
