Summary
Returning papers to Francis; commenting on his reflections related to the papers; saying that they are "too numerous for the remnant of an evening to give vent to. For the present, I can only observe, That Nothing can be more expressive of the heart-piercing effect your strictures on Mr. H's [Warren Hastings] conduct, had upon him, than his minute of the 3rd July. Finding no other means to gratify his Resentment, he wished to be rid of you, tho' at the risk of his own existence--Else why bear so much before, and wince at a trifle, why strain at a gnat, and swallow a Camel? And for this work, to give him his due, He has spunk enough, The same wishes still predominate..."
