Asking the recipient to "jot down the points in [Pierce Egan's] 'Tom and Jerry' which you think must have struck the late great novelist when writing 'Pickwick'"; saying that he has discovered "singular testimony" that Dickens was drawing from Tom and Jerry when writing The Pickwick Papers; noting that he has "some most interesting early letters of Dickens."
