Summary
Berating Northcote for standing her up on the occasion of "Mrs. Weddell's Rout;" saying "You kept me awake all last night - I had the greatest desire to go to Mrs. Weddell's Rout - and I proved it by asking you to take me with you - you certainly gave me such a reply as made it very doubtful to me whether you would go or not; at least I was certain in my own conjecture that if you did go, you would let me know a day or two before - as I did not hear from you I thought of going with Mrs. Opie (for I have not the courage to go to such parties alone) but as she did not positively determine on going when I last saw her, and finding myself not very well on Tuesday I sent her word I had determined to stay at home - this was to prevent any mistake between us and that she might not go merely on my account. I was not well when y[torn away] Mr. Hoare called Last night, but I was not so ill but I could have gone with great pleasure had I expected you. How could you suppose I expected you without your ever telling me you should call. I longed to come down stairs and load you with reproaches but though at so early an hour I was going to my nights repose - which you destroyed - I hope you had a very [illegible] evening."
