18th/19th-century English blind-tooled calf over wooden boards (38.5 x 28 cm), sewn on 5 supports; rebacked. Marbled paper pastedowns and endleaves, with plain paper endleaves; plain, stuck-on endband.
Inscriptions/Markings
Hand decoration, in two different styles, part I: Contemporary rubrication, alternating red and blue initials and paragraph marks, red headlines; part II: French illuminated initials (leaf [25]/2r), alternating red and blue initials, paragraph marks, and headlines, and marginal ruling (some leaves near end with only red decoration completed, blue unrealized). Annotations: No significant marginal notations in text; Roman numerals added in Psalms.
