Late 18th-century French gilt-tooled black morocco over paper boards (21 x 14.5 cm), sewn on 5 supports, questionably attributed to Padeloup by Belle Greene. Pink silk pastedowns and endleaves, with plain paper endleaves; plain endband; gilt edges.
Inscriptions/Markings: 

Hand decoration: Contemporary rubrication, red initial (with black penwork decoration), capital strokes, and underlining; ruling added later. Annotations: No marginal notations in text. Bibliographic notes tipped-in at end, on Pickering & Chatto stationery.
