19th-century blind- and gilt-tooled brown goatskin over paper boards (16 x 11.5 cm.), sewn on 3 supports by Despierres. Brown silk pastedowns and endleaves, with plain paper endleaves; decorative endbands; gilt edges. 2 clasps with elaborate hardware, 1 catch missing. Gilt spine title: Nouveau testament.
Inscriptions/Markings: 

Hand decoration: Contemporary French(?) rubrication, alternating red and blue initials and paragraph marks; woocuts hand-colored in pale red, brown, green, and thin shell-gold wash. Annotations: Contemporary marginal notations (heavily trimmed, in a French hand?) identifying some scenes and ennumerating the text.
