18th-/19th-century gilt-tooled English calf over paper boards (26 x 19 cm), sewn on 5 supports; rebacked. Marbled paper pastedowns and fly leaves with plain paper fly leaves; plain endbands; gilt edges.

Hand decoration: Unrubriated, rubrication unrealized. Annotations: No substantial notations in text. Marginal inscription, washed/faded, 1704 (leaf a2r).

William Herbert (1718-1796), bibliographical notes (first fly leaf verso) and signature, washed (leaf a2r), prior to Herbert, leaves g4.5 were removed and added to what became the White Knights Library copy; Richard Heber (1773-1833); George John Spencer (1758-1834), Earl Spencer, acquisition number: 17318 (crossed out) d[uplicate], acquired through exchange with Heber in 1814, when he also acquired a British Museum duplicate and inserted leaf o4 into the Heber copy, but in 1819 Spencer acquired the White Knights copy and moved leaf o4 from the Heber to the White Knights copy (which already had leaf g4.5 from Herbert copy, now Rylands Library copy), Spencer duplicate sale, Evans, 2 March 1821, lot 226, to Lister for Heber for £26.15.6; Richard Heber (1773-1833), his sale, Evans, 8 Dec. 1834, lot 2686, to Payne for Miller; William Henry Miller (1789-1848), Britwell Court Library; Sydney Richardson Christie-Miller (1874-1931), inherited from Miller; Britwell Court Library sale, Sotheby's, 29 Nov. 1919, lot 30 to Quaritch (with collation notes by F.S.
