19th-century blind- and gilt-tooled black calf, in a pastiche of an early style, over wooden boards (27.8 x 21 cm) by Forster Brown of Durham, with his ticket; repaired. Marbled paper pastedowns and flyleaves; decorative endbands; sprinkled edges.
Inscriptions/Markings
Hand decoration: Rubricated, red and blue lombards with gold initial on leaf [1]/2r, red L-brackets around chapter titles, Roman numeral book number in top margin of rectos, and Roman numeral foliation in outer margin of rectos. Table at end (leaves [18]/6-8) keyed to manuscript foliation. Annotations: minimal marginal annotations.
